How to Clean Wooden Puzzles

Your kids were playing with puzzles a few months and they lost their previous look?

Or you just have concerns about remove bacteria and germs on your puzzles.

In this article, we will give you shot advice on how to clean wooden puzzles and keep them neat.

First, make sure that the puzzles you are going to clean have no paper pictures attached to the surface as the main image. In case you have exactly such puzzles it is not wise to contact the puzzle with water as its image will go off in a blink of an eye. If you are holding the puzzle where all the images are printed directly on the wood, then keep on reading this post! We are going to clean and sanitize your wooden toys!

Prepare some warm water, white distilled vinegar, soap, or a commercial cleaner to clean wooden puzzles.

Cleaning option for wooden puzzles:

Option 1.

Mix water and vinegar 2/1 proportion. Vinegar is a great nontoxic disinfectant. Combine the vinegar and water together in a spray bottle. Spray this substance directly on the puzzle surface. Leave it for a few hours outside or at your home. When you see the puzzle fully dried – start to play again.

Never leave wet wooden puzzles out in direct sunlight to dry. This may cause your puzzles to crack. Always leave them dry with indirect sunlight.

You may also use apple cider vinegar as a component instead of white distilled vinegar.

Option 2.

Dip a dry cloth into the bowl with the clean we prepared above. Touch and press the puzzles surfaces from all the sides. Then give your puzzle a few hours to dry in a sunny place or outside.

Never place wooden puzzles close to heating facilities or/and fire. Their only one way for puzzles to be dried – long but natural – without any technical help from our side. Avoid immersing the puzzles into the water as this may damage the wood structure.

Option 3.

Mix ¼ cup of liquid soap and 4 cups of water. Again, pour your self-made cleanser into a splay box or into the bowl. Follow the instructions in option 1 or option 2. Let your wooden puzzles air dry! Once they are dry, you can start playing with your favorite wooden toys again!

Option 4.

If you have a commercial cleaner in a spray bottle, double-check whether it has any warnings regarding wooden material. If there are no such, please check whether your cleanser has no impurities that can color the wood toy and change its original natural colors. If none of these your case, then follow the instruction of option 1.

Remember, wooden puzzles with direct printing on the wood can last for years if you care for them properly.
